Ingredients
2 cups urad dal
3 green chillis
1 inch ginger
1/4 cup fresh and small coconut pieces (optional)
1/2 cup chopped onions
pinch of baking soda
salt
OIL for deep frying
Parchment paper or ziplock cover to make vadas
Method
.
Soak urad dal for 4 to 5 hours
.
Grind soaked urad dal to a thick batter along with ginger and green chillis With out adding water
.
Add salt, baking soda, coconut pieces, chopped onions Mix everything
.
Heat oil in a pan ,shape the vadas on a parchment paper or any cover, FRY on a medium heat untill golden color
.
Drain on a paper towel
.
DONE serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar
feel like eating..straight from the com,..looks yummy...crispy and crunchy

ReplyDeletevada's color is so beautiful. i too made udin vada yesterday. but couldnt make the vadas with the hole :( so my udin vadas look just like batata vada :D will post it next week.

ReplyDeleteSigh - my nemesis for the past 10 years - I try for every festival to make wadas and they let me down every single time!! I am not able to shape them and get the hole - without which of course they arent true medu wadas!

ReplyDeleteOoooo Vadaa sambhar is a combination that brings back memories of lazy Sundays in Mysore. My sis and I would fight over who got the biggest vadaa and then my dad would settle it by popping it in his mouth. Come to think of it....he owes me like 50 vadaas!! Great recipe Saagari
