Shrimp biryani


Ingredients

2 cups basmathi rice
2 cups shrimp ( I used frozen salad shrimp , u can use any shrimp)
1/2 cup onions ( sliced)
1 tbs ginger garlic paste
1 tsp coriender powder
1 tsp chilli powder
4 to 5 green chillis( slit)
3/4 cup yogurt
1/2 cup cilantro and pudina leaves
3 tbs biryani masala (I used shan chicken biryani masala)
4 tbs oil
2 tbs butter ( chopped in to small cubes)
2 tbs cashews
1 tsp garam masala powder
2 cloves, gardamom ,cinnamon
saffron color


Method


Wash basmathi rice 2 to 3 times and soak for 30 min


Wash shrimp with salt and water and marinate with ginger garlic paste ,salt,coriander powder,redchilli powder for 30 min


Boil water in a large vessel add tbs oil and soaked rice cook until 95% is cooked, drain and keep aside


In a pan heat 4 tbs oil add cloves,cardamom ,cinnamon and marinated shrimp fry

on medium flame until shrimp is tender then add onion ,green chillis and fry for 2 more min then add yogurt,cilanto,mint,biryani masala ,cashews adjust salt and cook for 5 to 10 min until thickkkkk gravy


Now add cooked rice on top of shirmp gravy ,sprinkle with garam masala,cilantro, butter , saffron color and cook on very low flame for 15 to 20 min


If u want to can transfer everything to oven proof dish cover with foil and bake on 350 for 20 to 30 min


Done serve hot with sliced onions and lemon

    had chicken biryani this weekend but the word shrimp adds a new flavour to it ..tThe taste palettes craves for shrimps..lovely post !
